ACA 2012 - San Francisco

I had the pleasure of attending the American Counseling Association annual convention in San Francisco last week - what a treat! I had a great time "professionally developing", learning lots of great information and tips for my counseling practice, connecting with old friends and colleagues, meeting new people, and just absorbing myself in this profession that I love so much.
And I got to have lunch with two of my favorite colleagues, Pamela & Dinorah. Love you ladies!

St. Patty's Day Weekend 2012

Since we live in one of the most culturally diverse places in the world, and because we have such an ecletic, multicultural group of friends, we decided to kick off St. Patrick's Day weekend with margaritas and Mexican food! :) What a fun night with Enrique, Andrea & Reyna!

Fun times @ La Penca Azul

David's SUPER HUGE burrito - as big as your head!

Then on Saturday afternoon we headed out to Manteca for the rest of the weekend, and to have a traditional Irish dinner with my family - corned beef & cabbage, carrots, potatoes, beer and Irish soda bread. Yum! I actually made the soda bread from scratch, my first attempt, and it was very yummy (and this recipe was super simple too)!

Is your Facebook really private?

An article in today's Chronicle titled Job seekers getting asked for Facebook passwords really stirred up some emotions for me. What a violation of privacy! I agree with the author's point that this act is like the equivalent of asking for an applicant's house keys!

READ THE ARTICLE HERE

What do YOU think? Should employers be allowed to require job applicants to log-in to their personal social media accounts, "friend" a hiring manager, or even supply their personal passwords during an interview?

Gym Tots!

Zoey LOVES her Gym Tot's gymnastics class at Head Over Heels! Her teacher Coach Sam is super sweet and so great with the kids, and it's so cool to see Zoey interacting nicely with a group of other kids her age and actually listening! (well, sometimes). I just wish Zoey was a bit more focused and attentive during the classes, but I guess I can't blame her for getting distracted when there's so much FUN stuff all around her. We'll definitely be coming back for another class in the future - maybe later this Fall once Z turns 3 and is ready for the "Gym Tumblers" class, and when her 2-year old moodiness has subsided a bit. :) I highly recommend this place for your little ones and grown-up-kiddos of all ages too!

My beach

It's no secret that I LOVE Alameda. I don't know if I could ever give up living walking distance to the beach - such a blessing to have this as my "back yard". :)

Cirque Du Soleil Totem!

The other weekend Leah and I were lucky enough to get free tix to see Cirque Du Soleil's TOTEM and it was amazing! I highly recommend seeing this wonderful show before it leaves the Bay Area on April 15th. Spectacular!

Tahoe Trip, Jan 2012

A bit belated, but I wanted to share some pics from our trip to Tahoe in January for our friend Scot's wedding. It was such a fun weekend celebrating Scot and Chloe, and enjoying a winter weekend getaway to the snow!

As seen through my camera phone....Jan-Mar 2012

If you know me and read my blog, then it's no secret that I LOVE taking pictures. Being able to capture the feelings, essence and memories of both special occasions and heartwarming everyday moments is extremely important and enjoyable to me. And it ensures that I won't forget them either! But sometimes I forget to bring my camera....doh! So while the quality of my camera phone isn't that fabulous (no, I haven't stepped into the I-phone world yet), it does the job well enough. :)

Zoey's baby clan

Our child is an extrovert - textbook! She loves and cherishes her friends (both real and imaginary), meets new ones wherever she goes, and takes such great care of her babies and stuffed animals. I sense a career in the helping professions for our little Z!
