Whoa Bunny!

I came across this picture of Hans Wagner and his German Giant Rabbit Herman - whoa! Herman is supposedly the world's largest rabbit weighing in at 22 lbs and over 3 feet tall! Hans said, "We don't feed him an unusual diet. He goes through more than his brothers and sisters, but he eats the same food mix. His favorite food is actually lettuce! He can never get enough of it."

I think my perception of rabbits as small, fuzzy creatures has been permanently changed... ;) Look at those feet!!

The Meaning of Life....

For those of you who know me well, you've probably caught me in one of my "existential crises". Despite the fact that I'll probably never know the true answers to most of life's mysteries, I still can't help but ponder (and sometimes dwell...) on questions such as "What is the meaning of Life?", "Why are we here?", and "What is my purpose?"....

To calm my anxiety, I often seek out the opinions and insights of others to help guide me in my own journery towards understanding. And this morning I came across an interesting website written by a man named Bill Blank from Sacramento, CA.

He provides his philosophy of life in a very user-friendly, matter-of-fact format - in a mere 3,000 words. So if like me you often question life's greater meaning, then go ahead and check out his site:

Goslings at Lake Merritt!

I went for a walk/jog around Lake Merritt on Tuesday evening and saw the most adorable gaggle of goslings (aka baby geese) :) They were sooo adorable! To be honest I'm not really a fan of geese, and actually somewhat afraid of them too, but the baby ones are just too cute! They looked like little puff balls that could fit in the palm of your hand! If you love baby animals, then a stroll around Lake Merritt would be a nice way to check out these cute little creatures while also getting in some cardio. :)

Skills ETD POP Party at Cow Palace (Sat 5/24/08)

Last Saturday David and I attended the Skills POP party at Cow Palace....we had a blast with 17,000+ of our closest friends (ha ha - yikes it was crazy in there!) We had such a great time dancing and seeing old friends, but the venue was so packed it was like hearding cattle trying to get through the hallways. Seriously, it was like a Japanese subway during rush hour traffic! So we stuck to the House room & Breaks room most of the night where there was more open space to dance - although we did venture into the main Trance room to check out Deep Voices and then Tiesto!

But at approximately 1am the entire venue went black - massive power outage!!!

Imagine an intense, crazy, pumping dance party with thousands upon thousands of people, 5 rooms of music, lazers, lights and massive sound systems - and in the blink of an eye, the power completely dies - we were literally left in the dark - no sound, no lights....nothing but the emergency lighting in the hallways. It was crazy.....!!

Thanks goodness we got out of the venue and back to our car pretty quickly (well once security starated kicking people out, we ran about 1/4 of a mile through the parking lot to our car and then jetted out of there as fast as we could!) I can't even imagine how long it must have taken some people to get out of the venue and then out of that huge parking lot - hours probably....sheesh.

But overall it was a great night! Check out some video footage that I found on You Tube that gives you a sense of how CRAZY yet AMAZING this party was! ;)

Pictures from my old phone....

So David and I just got new phones (yay!), and we switched our wireless service over to AT&T. We get better service and most of our family & close friends also use AT&T, so it just made sense. So I was going through the stored pics on my old Motorolla phone and I found some CUTE and SILLY pics that I just had to share. Happy weekend! ;)

Our new friend....

Meet Petey! Petey the Gnome recently relocated to Alameda from Susanville, and he is now a part of our household. David has fond memories of Petey protecting all the holiday presents under the Christmas tree at his Grandmother's house when he was a kid. And now he is a part of our world. We hope that Petey will bring us good luck and keep the kitties in check when we're gone. ;)

A New Food Pyrmaid?

YES! The Harvard School of Public Health has set out to create a new guide to good nutrition that uses the familiar pyramid shape, but incorporates current research findings in a more straightforward way that people can more easily adapt to their daily lives.

"The updated pyramid, based on data from the Nurses' Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, has four components that differ from the US Department of Agriculture's 2005 recommendations. Exercise and weight control are at the base of the pyramid to stress their importance, vitamin D is added in a bottle off to the side reflecting deficiencies many people have, dairy is limited to two servings a day because more doesn't help, and sugar-sweetened beverages such as sodas are added to the pyramid's tip, in the "use sparingly" category that also includes red meat, salt, and refined grains, the site says.

And that wine glass? That means moderate drinking can offer health benefits to many people, but it's not for everyone. So don't start."

What is YOUR favorite day of the week??

For me, that's an easy answer. :) Looking forward to the approaching 3-day weekend!

Trip to Susanville

So last Saturday 5/17/08, David and I made the trek up to Susanville, CA, the town where his grandmother had lived for the past 40+ years. Ruth Buffon was an amazing, strong-willed, funny little lady who will be missed very much. We spent most of the day on Saturday sorting through the closets in her cute 2-story home, combing through and organizing boxes of her stuff - momentos, memorabillia and memories. And we got a chance to visit the gravesite where David's grandparents are both burried now....it is a beautiful site and it felt like closure to be there. Here are a couple of pics from our trip this weekend, and a couple of older pics taken with Ruth that I just love. Susanville is pretty far away (up in the mountains about 5 hours from the Bay), but it is a beautiful drive to get up there!

Beautiful view from the Highway...

Lovely meadows & Mt. Lassen in the background...

Ruth & Oliver - too cute!

We will miss you Ruth!

Oh my poor Molly Magoo.....

So this morning I am feeling very sorry for my kitty Molly - she undergoes so much abuse the poor thing! Her brother Oliver is a total spazz who loves to attack his sister on a regular basis....simply because he CAN. I know that his intentions are simply to "play" and exert his kitty power in the household, but poor Molly takes the brunt of his Cat-itude! He is such a boy on so many levels; the annoying little brother who pulls your hair, the bratty boy in your grade school class who calls you names and chases you around the playground, etc. That is my Oliver. Don't get me wrong, he is also ADORABLE and can be the most loving, snuggly, innocent lap kitty at times, but more often than not he is up to some kind of trouble.

So today's blog is to honor and appreciate my loving, amiable, passive, peace-loving kitty Mrs. Molly Magoo. May your day be full of uninterrupted napping, happy kitty dreams, and minimal terrorizing from your siblings... :)

Merry Christmas??

Saw this when we were out in the City last weekend for my birthday - it made me chuckle, but feel somewhat sad at the same time.....
