It's time for a change America!

Serenity...

Even when my work days get crazy and when life throws me curve balls, I know that I can always come home to my sanctuary in relaxing, peaceful Alameda. Check out this amazing sunset we experienced last night - gorgeous! This is the view from our balcony on Alameda beach. I went for a jog last night and I couldn't help but smile and feel alive as I took in this beautiful view of the City Skyline splashed in color.

Where were YOU at 3am on Sunday morning???

Probably asleep in bed, right? Well David and I were stuck in SF trying to get home to the East Bay! After a fun night of dancing and socializing at the Skills Love party, we attempted to get back to the Bay Bridge around 2:45am. But all of downtown SF was gridlock traffic, we were detoured about 3 times without really knowing why, and still didn't get an answer after talking to a STOOPID cop attempting to direct traffic. After about 30 frustrating minutes of wondering if the Bay Bridge was even open, we decided we'd be better off just taking 101 South back to the 92/San Mateo Bridge. Even if it was the longer route, at least we were moving! It was a long night.......and didn't get to bed until almost 5am!

"Are we home yet???"

Pretty....

Random vodka bottle in the street.....you gotta pee somewhere while stuck in traffic, right?

Smile David!

Dreams of travel.....

I had a dream last night that I was in Australia - how cool is that! I've always wanted to travel "Down Under", as my paternal grandmother was an Aussie and I still have extended family living outside of Sydney.

But unfortunately airfare to Sydney is quite pricey, especially during the peak time of year when we had hoped to fly there (i.e. December - because that is their summer, plus I can easily get time off work during Winter Break). I am going to still keep my eye on travel deals and see is there is anyway we can swing it. Because not only do I have dreams of exploring this amazing place, but I also have a longing to connect to my family and my roots there. :)

I even had a cute stuffed Kangaroo doll when I was little - I think my parents might still have it in Manteca!

I will DEFINITELY go there someday, that I know for sure. :)

A sunny Saturday w/Family :)

We had a great day visiting with my family on Saturday for dad's 58th Birthday. We met up with my parents, Leah & Hayden, and my aunt Claudia & uncle Thayne for a nice afternoon meal in Redwood City near Leah's new apartment. I feel so blessed to have such a fabulous family - I love you all! The day ended with a gorgeous sunset as we relaxed at our beach-front apartment back in Alameda. :)

Sweaty Yoga!

So after a 2-year haitus, I decided to go back to Funky Door Yoga last night to sign up for a 30-day pass - unlimited Bikram sessions for the next month! For those of you who don't know about Bikram yoga, it is a very intense 90-minute session that involves a series of 26 poses done in a heated, sweaty room at 100 degrees Farenheight!

According to the Funky Door website:
"Bikram’s yoga is a routine of 26 poses which works the whole body in 90 minutes. The poses work synergistically and cumulatively to return the body to a balanced state. The yoga builds energy, stamina and flexibility. It incorporates strength, challenge, gravity, balancing and most importantly the tourniquet effect. This technique allows the stretching, squeezing and massaging of the internal organs, flushing out the cardiovascular system and stimulating the endocrine and nervous systems in order to release any deficient hormones and enzymes."

I came home last night feeling so refreshed, rejuvinated, accomplished, tired and sweaty! I'll be going back regulary.....wanna join me? ;)

Super Bowl Sunday

So although I'm not really a fan of football, I admit that I love watching the Super Bowl for the commercials and the half-time show (although this year I have mixed feelings about the selection of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers as the headliner....on one hand they are a classic, safe choice, yet at the same time, IMHO, somewhat outdated and off target given the plethora of strong younger performers that could have been chosen....)
Anyhow.....to get us into Super Bowl mode, check out this link to view the Top 50 Super Bowl Commercials of all time (with imbedded videos for each one!)

Here is one of my personal faves - from 1999 I believe. I think Mountain Dew is disgusting, but this ad definitely made me smile.

Have a happy football watching, beer drinking, junk food eating, commercial analyzing, or whatever-you-want-it-to-be Sunday.
